Has anyone tried to figure out how to stream netflix content to the dsm-320? i would love to watch movies instantly from my netflix account.

AVI's are choppy if they contain B-VOP's, which don't seem to be supported on DSM-320. XviD, by default, has this value set to 2, for optimum performance. If you're coding using XviD, either uncheck b-vop's altogether (would also disable packed bitstream), or set the level to 0. Complex scenes are handled better using avi than with mp4 (like the dam bursting in Ice Age - The Meltdown), so if you're creating a new encoding, this is the way to go. This also creates a...

Like almost everybody else, I bought the DSM-320 for its Xvid support, and was sadly disappointed. Video was extremely choppy, ff/rwd didn't work properly, jump resulted in out of sync audio... it was a mess. TVersity helped, but functionality was lost. I followed most of the other forums and messed with bitrate, wired connections... then followed D-Link's advice and began reencoding my videos to Nero Digital. Alright I have been up and down this board and pretty much everyboard on the net and I still can't figure out how to play videos directly through the DSM-320. When I download the videos they can be played just fine but of course usually the resolution is 668X388 or something like that which is way to huge for my tv.

I am therefore trying to convert them to a smaller resolution. I tried Nero Recode (with the QT compatibility checked) and I get that it's not a recognized file. I also...

I am wondering which media types people have had the most success with for playing on the dsm-320rd? I am specifically interested if any of the media types carry the ability to be rewind or fast forward witht he dsm-320rd unit.

to connect to the server software?

Mine picks up an IP no problem etc. but it takes about 5-10 mins for the DSM to find the Server. Once it's connected it's stable.

Wireless at about 76% - 80% strength.

I tried Dlinks server software and now Tversity...both the same.

Upgrade of DSM-320 firmware to 1.07ww causing remote to hang

Yesterday night 25 March 06 my DSM did an automatic upgrade to 1.07ww.

Now a large number of movie files that used to play fine with the previous firmware do lock up the player in such a way that the remote control doesn't work anymore. Some movie files just keep playing forever because of the auto-repeat and you can't stop them without rebooting the DSM. Other files just lock up to a black screen, and the only way out is to reboot the DSM.

Some files stil play OK, but not by...

DSM 320 & Nero Re-Code

Hello,

I have several video files that were endoded to AVI that will not play on my DSM-320. When I try and play them a tech support banner pops up and tells me to re-encode using Nero Re-Code in order to get the file to play. What I can't find are the settings that you are supposed to use with Nero Re-Code to get the file re-encoded and stream properly. Anyone have any ideas? I have called Dlink support and they are useless. Thanks in advance.

Problem with Fast forward

Hi, I run a DSM-320 FW1.07 with Twonkyvision 3.1 on a Linkstation. When I press the fast forward button and the the play button to resume play the video starts from the begining again. Does any one know why or how I can solve this?

i use xvid/avi for almost perfect video/audio on my 50" toshiba HDTV, but you need to use ffdshow(google it), and uninstall any other divx app you have on your computer. I used to have choppy video now im very satisfied.

Ripping VOBs for each Chapter

It seems like the only way to get this thing to allow me to skip between chapters of a ripped DVD is to have each chapter as a seperate vob.

If that's the case, then how do you rip a DVD so that you get individual vobs for each chapter?

I know there must be a way to do it but I can't seem to find it.

I've struggled over the last few months trying to find a way to watch things like Cold Case that I've downloaded in AVI format. I've tried burning them to DVD but you get the audio/video desync - I've tried using a DivX DVD player, but it wasn't happy with Xvid and converting wasn't sucessful - argh!

So... I've just bought a DMS-320 - then I noticed all the problems posted here. However, I'm willing to put some work in to make it do what I want...

Nero Recode 2 .mp4 problem

Ok, so I ripped one of my dvds to my computer, noticed that the playback on the media player was a bit choppy. So I saw that Nero Recode was supposed to work for converting the file into a usable format.

So I bought the program, and used the feature to recode the main movie to Nero Digital, and it converts it to a .mp4 or mpeg-4 file, which I assume are the same thing. But when I try to play the file on the media player, it says the format isn't compatible. But the dlink website says...

Has anybody had any luck with playing back a Recoded movie with 5.1 audio. I have tried this with reducing the audio bitrate, encoding in expert mode with QT compatibility and everything else I've picked up from this forum. The video playback is still jerky and unusable. Can anybody out there offer any help? I'm pretty impressed with the Nero / DSM setup otherwise and don't really want to go down the VOB route if I can help it.

I have a WinTV150 to record TV. Using Comskip to detect commercials and comclean to cut them. I have no problem playing the resulting file on the PC with GBPVR, but when I stream them to the DSM320(wireless) the video sometimes freezes just before the commercial that was cut (in other words right at the black frame.) Anyone else have experience with this? I am starting to think wireless video is a dream...but running cat5 up 3...

Hello, i have been working on this all day and im very frustrated.

I bought this DSM-320 for two reasons
1. To play Downloaded movies (usually DIVX or XVID)
2. To Play recorded TV

With the latest firmware and server updates you are supposed to be able to play .wmv files.

Windows media center records TV in a different format so i bought a program that converts the videos into .wmv.

I later find out that it wont play the recorded tv that was converted to WMV,...

I have had some success with converting avi (containing xvid video and non-aac audio) to mp4 using MP4Box together with transcoding using mencoder. Thought I'd log my setup in case its of any use to anyone.

I am using mediatomb as my media server, across a 54Mbps wireless network. I get a wireless signal rating of around 72 on the dsm-320.

The conversion/transcoding is performed on a linux machine (fedora core 4). Windows binaries do exist for these tools but I could not...
